Now in its 11th year, Midlands Environmental Business Club has changed its name to Midlands Environmental Business Company, and launched a subsiduary, MEBC Projects Limited. MEBCo will be the proprietor of the Club.

The changes are designed to reflect the growing role of the MEBC in developing opportunities within the environmental business sector for regional businesses, and in undertaking project work involving members. The emphasis is very much on "business" and "opportunity" though the value of networking, always a major benefit to club members, will continue.

The headlines behind the changes are:

The Board of MEBC Limited remains as before.

A new Board has been established for MEBC Projects Limited consisting of Ian Aspley (Marley), David White (Grant Thornton), Rory Tait (Eversheds), Fred Preston (MMS), and David Middleton (EBC) who is CEO.

New formal contractual arrangements have been established between MEBC Projects and anyone managing projects for MEBC.

Projects currently in hand include the West Midlands Wind Energy Project and the Amino Moulding Powder (AMP)demonstration involving British Industrial Plastics.

The West Midlands Industrial Symbiosis Project is part of a national programme being run by the Business Council for Sustainable Development - UK.

Both MEBC companies are not-for-profit.

The City of Birmingham Economic Development Department and the Technology Innovation Centre have both confirmed support to the 2003 series of Business Breakfast Briefings.
